Benamor Golf
Designed by Sir Henry Cotton and open since 2000, Benamor Golf Course, just outside the city of Tavira, offers a rewarding experience to players of all levels. Sitting on undulating land, it has stunning views of the mountains to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. A par 71, with 18 holes and fairways of Bermuda Sahara and cool-season grasses, it provides good lies for wood and iron shots. The design kept a significant number of old trees that combined with strategic placed bunkers and occasional water hazards make the course a worthwhile challenge. Quinta de Benamor is surrounded by almond, carob and olive trees. This golf course was selected as the Best Maintained Course in 2001 by the Portuguese Golf Federation. The signature hole is the 16th, but collectively the five par 3s are worth mentioning - play these well and you will probably have scored very well.
